Inovasi Molekuler Indonesia Drives Nanomedicine Breakthrough for Degenerative Diseases through IGDS Technology

Inovasi Molekuler Indonesia (IMI) continues to strengthen its role as a national center for nanomedicine research and development through the advancement of the Intelligent Gas Delivery System (IGDS), a nanobubble-based gas delivery technology designed to reach micro blood vessels (microcapillaries) that have long been difficult to access using conventional medical technologies. The technology was presented by Mr. Kan Eddy, Chairman of RAHO (Reverse Aging and Homeostasis Club), in an in-depth interview with Helmy Yahya, broadcast on the YouTube channel Helmi Yahya Bicara. The interview explored the scientific background, early clinical experiences, and the long-term vision of IGDS as a science-based health innovation developed by Indonesian researchers.

IGDS technology was developed by a team of Indonesian scientists led by Prof. Sutiman Bambang Sumitro, together with Prof. Widodo, Prof. Aulanni’am, and Prof. Ahmad Sabarudin. The research is grounded in the understanding that many degenerative diseases—such as stroke, cancer, Parkinson’s disease, and dementia—share a common underlying cause: hypoxia, or insufficient oxygen at the cellular level.According to Kan Eddy, IGDS works by delivering gas in nano-sized particles (approximately 80–100 nanometers) directly to tissues experiencing impaired microcirculation. Being significantly smaller than red blood cells, nanobubbles are able to penetrate narrowed or obstructed microcapillaries caused by inflammation and the aging process.

“The core problem of many diseases is not merely organ damage, but disrupted oxygen and nutrient distribution to cells. IGDS is designed to address this problem directly,” said Kan Eddy during the interview.

A Multigas Approach to Maintain Cellular Homeostasis

Unlike conventional oxygen therapy, IGDS employs a multigas approach, including oxygen and hydrogen. Oxygen serves as the primary source for cellular energy production (ATP), while hydrogen is known as a selective antioxidant that helps reduce oxidative stress caused by excessive oxygen reactions within the body.

This approach is considered essential because oxygen, while vital for cellular life, can also trigger cellular damage if not balanced by mechanisms that control free radicals. In this context, hydrogen plays a key role in maintaining redox balance and supporting cellular recovery processes.

From Research to Community: A Gotong Royong Model

All research activities and early applications of IGDS take place within the RAHO Club ecosystem, a community-based initiative founded on the principle of gotong royong (mutual cooperation), which now includes more than 21,000 members across Indonesia. IMI serves as the scientific research and development hub, while RAHO provides a platform for socially driven and sustainable implementation.

This model enables independent research development without full reliance on major pharmaceutical industries, while simultaneously expanding access to therapy across diverse social backgrounds through a cross-subsidy mechanism.

Toward Global Recognition

IGDS technology has secured national patent protection and is currently undergoing the international patent process under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Results from the international search indicate that no similar approach has previously been identified, positioning Indonesia as a potential global pioneer in gas-based nanomedicine.IMI emphasizes that all research is being advanced gradually and responsibly, adhering to rigorous scientific standards and strict research ethics.

“This is not merely a technology, but an effort to build Indonesia’s sovereignty in health research,” Kan Eddy emphasized.

By integrating nanophysics, molecular biology, and the spirit of gotong royong, Inovasi Molekuler Indonesia positions itself as a driving force for national health innovation focused on scientific solutions and broad social impact.
